What’s New At the Gallery

At American Fine Art Editions, Inc. we rarely find an emerging artist who inspires us with the beauty of their artwork so much that we seek to represent their work.  Navarre is one such artist, creating trompe l’oeil floral sculptures that reflect the natural beauty of flowers found around the world.  Navarre explores the varieties of orchids through her artwork but also creates an array of other floral species to express other moods and meanings through her art; from the hope and renewal of a beautiful lilly to the bright cheerfulness of Gerber daisies in a kaleidoscope of colors. Orchids are Navarre’s first love and make up much of her work, with such a variety of species within this one family of plants- all of which marvel the eye – it is rather easy to see why she is drawn to them.  Navarre grew up with orchids all around her, since they grow naturally in the wild in Vietnam.  Her love of orchids goes beyond the external beauty of the flowers; they hold a deep sentimental value and nostalgia from her childhood.

Orchids are the largest family of plants in the world.  With 30,000 known species, you could acquire a different orchid every day for 80 years and still not have them all. Navarre’s expertise when it comes to recreating the natural beauty of the orchid through her meticulous attention to detail is nothing short of incredible. The eye fooling realism that Navarre creates is astounding, tempting even the bees without so much as a hint of the fragrance found in nature.  Navarre’s affinity for floral design was born in her mother’s kitchen when she was a young girl.  Watching her mother adorn cakes and pastries with extravagant floral motifs inspired her inner artist. At first she loved creating flowers from the icing in her mothers kitchen, but was so discouraged with their temporality. So she began experimenting herself, creating flowers from any and every material she could find.  Oragami became a second nature to Navarre, creating flower upon flower.  Until she experimented with a special Far Eastern clay that allowed her to create extremely delicate and finely detailed pieces that would accurately reflect the beauty of the flora and fauna she so loved.

If you were unable to attend our Meet the Artist reception held for Navarre, we invite you to see her one-of-a-kind trompe l’oeil floral masterwork collection at the gallery.  Her art is truly unique  and in a class of its own.  Ask your International Art Consultant about current availability or to commission a work.
