Mihail Chemiakin (Russian, b. 1943)

Poet, Musician, Sculptor, Scientist, Philosopher and Folk Hero, Mihail Chemiakin is no doubt a force to be reckoned within the art world. He is one of the few artists working today who sets the standard by which all other contemporary art is measured.

Mihail Chemiakin was born in Moscow in 1943. Chemiakin showed early promise as an artist. From 1971 to 1981, Chemiakin lived in Paris where he created his famous Carnival at St. Petersbourg and Ventre de Paris series. As his reputation grew, French diplomats smuggled many of his paintings out of Russia. A man who once nearly died for his art, as he was seen as a threat to communism, Chemiakin now works to evoke a strong emotional response from the viewer, drawing him or her into the painting to experience it in an individual way.

In addition to Chemiakin, American Fine Art Editions, Inc. hosts a variety of other renowned masters including: Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Joan Miro, Andrew Wyeth, LeRoy Neiman, Salvador Dali, and more.
